Psalm 47

Good Morning “Collective Worshipers.”  Today we are in Psalm 47.

“Clap your hands, all you nations; shout to God with cries of joy. For the Lord Most High is awesome, the great King over all the earth.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭47‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Notice… although this Psalm was written by the Sons of Korah for The Nation of Israel, there’s more.  It calls for ALL Nations to clap their hands and shout to God.  Interesting concept.  Think in terms of our church worship on Sunday morning.  We would never expect those in distant lands to be clapping along with our worship.  The Psalmist knew they were writing this Psalm not just for the Jewish people but for ALL Nations.

What is the message to all nations?  God is King of ALL.  While leaders plot and scheme, Gods plan cannot be thwarted.  It’s a good reminder.  God works in and through ALL THINGS even sinful leaders to accomplish His work (Proverbs 21:1).  It’s a whole other level.  He doesn’t accomplish His work “despite” their sin.  He “uses it.”

Anxiety fills the air as we look at the nations and their leaders.  At different times we find ourselves nervous regarding our own government.

Consider…
Israel and Judah’s history is filled with evil kings - Gods plan was never thwarted (Proverbs 19:21).

Corrupt Jewish officials succeeded in bribing one of Jesus’ own, an inside man to betray Jesus… God still got His work done (Matthew 26:14-16)

Pilate, the Governor of Rome was lobbied (peer-pressured) into murdering Jesus… (Matthew 27:22) God still got His work done. (Actually it was all part of the plan… prophecy fulfilled)

The Jewish government tried to cover up Jesus’ resurrection… (Matthew 28:11-15) word still got out!  The resurrection is the reason for our hope today!  (1 Corinthians 15:13-15)

Governments, politicians, kings, dictators, and rich men have been up to not good for thousands of years, but God is still successfully bringing about His will in the world amidst the apparent chaos.

What appears to be chaos to us is all part of Gods perfectly orchestrated plan.  We know the end of the story!  Satan loses (Revelation 20:10)!!! He can’t win because… God!  (Genesis 50:20; Romans 8:28)

Therefore;
“Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King, sing praises. For God is the King of all the earth… “ Psalms‬ ‭47‬:‭6-7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Love you all!  Dig in!
