Good Morning “Rejoicers in The Shepherds Truths”. Today we are in Psalm 23. Read it if you haven’t, then let’s break it down.
“The Lord is my Shepherd, I lack nothing.” We know the shepherds voice (John 10:27), and we follow
Him. Some don’t follow because they don’t recognize His voice…
With Him, we lack nothing for He is our provider and protector. He gives us eternal life, and ensures that NOTHING can snatch us out of His hand. (John 10:28).
“He MAKES me lie down in green pastures, He Leads me beside quite waters… “ He orders our lives He makes us be calm when needed. “He gives us rest! (Matthew 11:28)
“He refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for His name sake.” He renews us and gives us energy to serve (Isaiah 40:31).
“He guides along the right path – for His Glory!” By His Word (Psalm 119:105). If we put our trust in Him and obey He will keep our path straight (Proverbs 3:5-6, Romans 12:2).
“Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” He doesn’t remove us from the troubled times, but He walks through them with us. In fact He uses them to grow us up (James 1:2-4). Jesus said – “In this world you will have trouble, but take heart I have over come the world.” John 16:33 The evil one will come and come hard (1 Peter 5:8). We need not fear him. The Spirit of God is in us (1 John 4:3-4).
“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.” Not in the absence of… but in the presence of our enemies. Even then, in the battle, we have intimacy, and communion with Him. The table, a meal, its an intimate thing (Revelation 3:20).
“You anoint my head with oil…”Anointing was done for healing, anointing was done to set apart for service, for commissioning… Commissioning for what? His
work! It’s literally the reason He saved us (Ephesians 2:8-10).
“Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” He will never leave us or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). Jesus told the disciples in the Upper Room the night of His arrest that He would come back for them (John 14:2-3). He’s with us now, and when it’s time, He will come back for us… And we will dwell in the house of the Lord forever…
Love you all! Dig in!
