Good Morning “Those Learning From Job.” Today we are in Job 27.
Although Job remained faithful to God in the midst of horrific testing, he was not perfect. We get it - most of us likely would respond similarly or even worse.
There is value in us humbly considering all parts of Jobs response. Without climbing onto our “ivory tower” and arrogantly passing judgment; we must be careful to learn from both the “good”, and the “could have been better” in Jobs response. Let’s not forget, we have the Holy Spirit in us comforting, leading, giving peace from the inside out - Job didn’t.
Trust: Job seemed to waver trusting God and doubting - again who could blame him? We should purpose to trust God and rest in Him even when we don’t understand (Proverbs 3:5-7, Psalm 62:8)
Submit: When faced with struggle, Scripture would have us submit to The Lord not fight Him. With submission comes spiritual growth. (James 1:2-5, James 4:7)
Forgive: When your trial includes outside attack - forgive. Our battle is not against flesh and blood (Ephesians 6:12), neither was Jobs. (Matthew 6:14-15, Romans 12:14)
Love: Job declared his friends wicked and deserving of judgment. Job lashed out in anger and desperation. The wise remain silent when there is nothing profitable to say (Proverbs 17:28) Do not respond to evil with more evil (Matthew 5:39, Porverbs 20:22) Love Em Like Jesus who loved us and gave His life for us (Ephesians 5:1-2).
There’s more lessons in Jobs responses. See what you can find. Job displays Faith no doubt, but Jesus is the ONLY PERFECT example.
Love you all! Dig in!
