Good Morning “Powerless Without God.” Today we are in Psalm 18.
God has just rescued David from Saul and “his enemies”. David’s on fire here, spouting Truths and Praise. He acknowledges God saved him simply because He delights in him. “He brought me out into a spacious place; he rescued me because he delighted in me.” Psalm 18:19 We’ve done nothing to earn Salvation. It’s by Gods Grace, He delights in His creation (Ephesians 2:8-9, Titus 3:5).
David goes on to mention that his reward, his blessing is based on his obedience. “The Lord has dealt with me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands he has rewarded me.” Psalms 18:19-20 NIV Our obedience positions us for the blessing of God (Matthew 6:20).
David rejoices that God has delivered him from his enemies. At first glance it may appear that his Worship and Praise is directed to God solely for rescuing him from his earthly pursuers, but look deeper. David’s language seems to acknowledge an enemy much greater. God equipped David - thus giving him victory.
God offers us Salvation through the Blood of Jesus shed on The Cross for our sins (Romans 6:23, John 3:16, John 1:12). He then begins to mold and make us into the likeness of Jesus, by The Spirit through His Word (Philippians 1:6). By His Word we are strengthened (Psalm 119:9-11, Joshua 1:8). The evil one is relentless in his pursuit to destroy us (1 Peter 5:8) but take heart, like with David, He has equipped us with everything we need to be victorious (Ephesians 6:10-18).
We must embrace Gods design, His Word, apply it and live it… or we are powerless. David understood.
Love you all! Dig in!
