Good Morning “Brides of Christ.” Today we are in Psalm 45.
From the Sons of Koran A wedding song. But for who? Is this a general wedding song or yet another Psalm with a dual intent? Yes!
“You love righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.” Psalms 45:7 NIV.
This is our first clue that we are not dealing with a typical wedding song. The Son God and The Father God both appear here in this verse. Jesus is set apart for a special purpose - Savior.
Absolutely this Psalm prophetically points to Jesus. Hebrews 1:8-9 makes it clear connecting back to Psalm 45:6.
A closer look of the Psalm reveals striking parallels between the king and Jesus, and the kings bride and the Church. Jesus is a glorious king who fights for truth and righteousness (45:4). He is more beautiful than any other the “sons of men” (45:2), not in physical beauty but in character. His enemies are no match for Him (45:5). He is rightfully called “God,” and His throne is an eternal one (45:6). He is the anointed One (Christ means anointed; 45:7). He loves righteousness and hates wickedness (45:7).
In regards to the bride of Psalm 45, the Church is talked about as the bride of Christ (Eph 5:25-27; Rev 19:7-9; 2 Cor 11:2). The Church is beautiful to Jesus (45:11), so beautiful that He gave His blood for it. As the Church, we are to move beyond our past loyalties and give ourselves wholeheartedly to our king (45:10). The Church will produce princes, adopted sons of God (Rom 8:16-17). The Church will exist through all generations, and people will praise its existence forever and ever (45:17).
It’s awesome to see the big picture. Love you all! Dig in!
