Job 29

Good Morning “Used as an Example”.  Today we are in Job 29.

Job laments… if only I could go back to the days of my prime, when God was with me, when he guided me and comforted me.

In the midst of Jobs horrible suffering he was missing out on something incredible.  GOD WAS WITH HIM.  It was the Footprints in the Sand poem being lived out.  “When you saw only one set of footprints, It was then that I carried you."

Stop and think about all that Job had been through, and how far he had been knocked down.  He was blessed (10 kids, plentiful herds), esteemed, healthy - he was the greatest in that land.  All gone.  How could he have possibly gotten through that and maintained ANY measure of faith if God was not with Him?  He couldn’t.  Neither can we well face trials alone.

God is the one that draws us to Jesus (John 6:44).  It is God who gives us each a measure of faith according to His purpose (Romans 12:3, Ephesians 2:8) We can easily get puffed up at how far we’ve come, how much we’ve grown… but that’s ALL God too (Philippians 1:6).  God guides (Isaiah 30:21), God directs (Proverbs 16:9).  He gives comfort (Psalm 23:4), peace (Philippians 4:7), strength (Isaiah 40:29-31), and understanding (Proverbs 2:6).  In fact NOTHING touches us that He does not permit and NOTHING can separate us from The Love of God (Romans 8:31-39).

He was there.  Job could not have done it without Him.  He’s there for us too.  The question is… Will we pull away from Him?  Or… will we draw close to Him in the midst of our struggle and in so doing be an example for Him to use to display His glory in us?

Love you all!  Dig in!
