Psalm 82

Good Morning “Rescuers of The Weak…” Today we are in Psalm 82.

Asaph acknowledges God presides over the gods.  What are we talking about here?  The term gods when seen with a small “g” is referring either to pagan gods (demons), and/or earthy leaders.  Reviewing the Hebrew, and considering the complete text points to the later.   It appears Asaph is speaking regarding evil governors.  “I said, ‘You are “gods”; you are all sons of the Most High.’ But you will die like mere mortals; you will fall like every other ruler.” Psalms‬ ‭82‬:‭6‬-‭7‬ ‭NIV‬

What is Asaph’s complaint?  “How long will you defend the unjust and show partiality to the wicked?”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭82‬:‭2‬ ‭NIV‬‬ The government appears to be on the wrong side of right!  God through Asaph charges the messed up governors to flip their narrative “Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed. Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭82‬:‭3‬-‭4‬ ‭NIV‬‬

What’s our application?  The same!  Defend the weak, uphold the cause of the poor and oppressed. Rescue and deliver them from the hand of the wicked.

Love you all!  Dig in!
