Good Morning “Young Sponges, Gray Teachers.” Today we are in Psalm 71.
We’re all deserving of wrath (Roman’s 6:23, Ephesians 2:3). However; Jesus loves us, and gave Himself up for us (Ephesians 5:2). We’ve done NOTHING to deserve Him, it’s all by His grace (Ephesians 2:8-9) What does The Lord ask in return? ALL of us, “a living sacrifice, Holy and pleasing to God”. That’s our proper response… It’s reasonable in view of Gods mercy and Grace through Jesus (Romans 12:1). If we are going to present ourselves to Him in a pleasing manner, it requires that we repent, and grow up… serve Him, be His hands and feet - His ambassadors (2 Corinthians 5:20).
But when? When do we start repenting? When do we start growing? When do we start serving and ambassadoring?
“One of these days Pastor. One day I’ll get serious about my faith… not just yet - I got time. I’m still young. These are the best years of MY life.”
“Man, Pastor, our lives are busy. Keeping up with the kids is about all we have time for.”
“Come on Pastor, these are my glory years. I just retired… I was hoping to relax.”
Growing and serving Jesus is for all generations! Our lives are no longer our own (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). The Psalmist gets it! It may begin with “Jesus loves me this I know for the Bible tells me so”, but then it will continue… “Even when I am old and gray.”
“Since my youth, God, you have taught me, and to this day I declare your marvelous deeds. Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, my God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your mighty acts to all who are to come.”
Psalms 71:17-18 NIV
The Psalmist understands even in his old age, God has work for him… building into the next generation.
Tomorrow Pastor… I’ll dial in tomorrow. Tomorrow may never come. Today. Today is the day.
Love you all! Dig in!
