Good Morning “Reconciled Enemies.” Today we are in Psalm 70.
The last few Psalms have reminded us that God willingly receives all who repent. “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9
We are all born sinful, “Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me.” Psalm 51:5. We all start in the same place - sinners. So we all were once headed to that default destination no one likes to talk about. He makes us His children when we repent of our sin and BELIEVE in Jesus (Acts 3:19, John 1:12, Romans 10:9).
So what of those that have chosen the world, who have become friends with it, embraced sin, and in so doing made an enemy of God and His people (James 4:4)? Are we to go get them? (Matthew 5:43-48, Matthew 28:18-20, James 5:19-20)
Yes, but we have to make sure that in “the going”, we are not getting in the way of what God is trying to do with them. We also must make sure that in the going we are not placing ourselves in a position of corruption (1 Corinthians 15:33). How do we do that that? Take a lesson from Jesus in Mark 6:7-11. First He sent them in groups for protection and accountability. He also gave them instruction… if the sinner refuse’s to listen, dust off your sandals and leave them.
We save NO ONE. We cause NO ONE to repent and turn from their sin. That part is NOT our responsibility. We are to share His Truth - period. God begins and does the work (Philippians 1:6). And… if the lost person or the believer in sin, rejects that Truth, or fails to repent, leave them to it… (1 Corinthians 5:5). We are “Fishers of men”, (Matthew 4:19), not cleaners of men - He does the cleaning.
Love you all! Dig in!
