Good Morning “Wise Because of The Holy Spirit.” Today we are in Job 32.
Finally someone who speaks impartially, with pause, and wisdom. Elihu makes a very important point as he prepares to let em have it.
“But it is the spirit in a person, the breath of the Almighty, that gives them understanding. It is not only the old who are wise, not only the aged who understand what is right.” Job 32:8-9 NIV
As we’ve studied before, and even yesterday, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” Proverbs 9:10 NIV
Age is not the biggest factor. Definitely in a Biblically based, obedient, perfect world, those who are older SHOULD have more wisdom, and often do… (Job 12:12) however; not if “fear of The Lord”, and knowledge of “The Holy One” is lacking.
Paul understood this as he told Timothy “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.”
1 Timothy 4:12 NIV Timothy was about to step into leadership of many who were much older than he.
What am I saying… don’t respect and seek the wisdom of your elders? ABSOLUTELY NOT! That is NOT what I’m saying. For that too would be disobedient to Gods Word (Leviticus 19:32, Exodus 20:5, 1 Peter 5:5). Even Elihu waited and was respectful. What I am saying is be careful who shapes your understanding of Gods Word and who He is… for if they themselves are off base it’s really no understanding at all.
Let me put it simply… I’ve got some students who “GET IT”. I’ve met adults within The Body who DON’T. How do we know who is who? Ha… that’s just it… apart from as strong knowledge of The Word, it’s difficult. That’s why it’s imperative we ALL know The Word and sharpen each other with It (Proverbs 27:17). If you can read this - you’re old enough to dig in! Be a Barean yourself (Acts 17:11).
Love you all! Dig in!
