Good Morning “Already Delivered.” Today we are in Psalm 3.
David wrote this Psalm while being pursued by his own son Absalom. Why would a son pursue a father? The spark that fueled this fire comes from series of events and judgment that goes back to David’s murder of Uriah, Bathsheba’s husband. If you’ll recall, the whole thing with Bathsheba began with a walk out on the deck of the palace… enabled by David’s choice to passively remain home at a time when kings went off to war (2 Samuel 11:1). The first consequence of sin is more sin… talk about progression!
Even in his sin, David knows who His deliverer is.
“Lord, how many are my foes! How many rise up against me!”
Psalms 3:1 NIV
“From the Lord comes deliverance.” Psalms 3:8 NIV
Who or what is it that pursues you to destroy you? Is it a habit, a sin, a manner of thinking? Is it a real enemy that dogs your steps? Yes! The evil one is relentless in his pursuit of all who desire to live for Jesus (1 Peter 5:8).
Take comfort! The battle is already won! Jesus already crushed the power of sin and death. If you’ve received Jesus payment, His blood shed on The Cross for your sins… you’ve already been delivered.
“Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.”
1 Corinthians 15:55-58 NIV
All that remains is the battle for our minds! For that fight, He’s given us The Armor of God. It’s no use to us unless we put it on! (Ephesians 6:10-18)
Love you all! Dig in!
