Good Morning “Put in Our Place.” Today we are in Job 38.
As we’ve read Jobs lament, we’ve observed him move progressively more toward questioning God. Why? What did I do to “deserve” this? This simply isn’t fair. If only God would present Himself so I could ask Him.
Maybe we’ve found ourself questioning Gods treatment of Job. Or maybe you’ve found yourself in the same place in your life. We’ve spent time discussing the fact that we’ve all sinned (Romans 3:23). That sin has earned us eternal suffering (Romans 6:23a). Anything we are blessed with other than that is a Gift of Gods hand… we call that Grace (Ephesians 2:8-10). The greatest gift of all is Jesus and the payment for our sins by His shed blood on The Cross (Roman’s 6:23b).
Jobs default destination, our default destination apart from Grace, is eternal suffering. So… God is perfectly justified in anything He chooses to subject us to - for His Glory.
We must be VERY careful in questioning Him, or His Sovereignty. There is a fine line between despair and doubt, and setting ourselves up in judgment over Him. Job has demanded an audience with God… in this chapter he gets his wish.
As you read notice…
- God outlines CLEARLY both, some of His creative process’s and His Sovereign control of it ALL. He’s clearly making the statement that Elihu made about God in the previous chapters. “I’m God, you’re NOT, who do you think you are?”
- God makes no apologies to Job for his suffering. Why? Because we are His creation to do with what He chooses. The Creator is perfectly justified in doing whatever He chooses with His creation.
Love you all! Dig in!
