Good Morning “Humbly Submitted.” Today we are in Psalm 36.
Your love, oh Lord
Reaches to the heavens
Your faithfulness stretches to the sky…
Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains…
Your justice flows like the ocean's tide…
I love that song from the band Third Day, how about you? They’re actually David’s words from Psalm 36.
When we sing that song it’s doubtful we consider the first part of the Psalm - the saddest part. Some are simply satisfied with themselves to the point that they have no fear of God and no use for His offerings. Check it out:
“I have a message from God in my heart concerning the sinfulness of the wicked: There is no fear of God before their eyes. In their own eyes they flatter themselves too much to detect or hate their sin.”
Psalms 36:1-2 NIV
There is a real danger in us getting caught up in our own awesomeness. It’s why God demands our humble submission. When we’re prideful, we’re neither fearful nor teachable. I say it often, when we’ve got it all figured out what can we learn? Nothing - we’re not teachable. His Love, and ALL that means, is the offer. Are we humble enough to receive it?
Scripture is replete with urging to “Humble Ourselves”. Here are just a few. Proverbs 11:12, 18:12, 22:4, 1 Peter 5:6, Romans 12:3.
How do we fix the mess of this world we live in? Humility that leads to repentance is what it will take for God to heal this land. 2 Chronicles 7:14
Love you all! Dig in!
