Good Morning “Those Who Ascribe It ALL to God’s Sovereignty and Power.” Today we are in Psalm 29.
“Ascribe to the Lord, you heavenly beings, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness.” Psalms 29:1-2 NIV
Ascribe means to credit, assign, or blame something to a person or thing.
David begins this Psalm by urging mankind to “ascribe” / credit God with all Glory and Worship. Why? He’s worthy!
You know the song… sing it with me… “Is He worthy? Is He worthy?
Of all blessing and honor and glory… Is He worthy of this?
He is! He is! He is!”
David goes on to give us just a hand full of reasons why… really summarized by one statement “He is Lord of ALL!”
With just His Voice, just a Word from His mouth, not laborious in any way: He thunders over the waters, He breaks the cedars, twists the oaks, brings the lightening, shakes the desert, sits over the flood and still… has the gentleness to give us, His people, strength and comfort.
With the same Voice He speaks to each of us through His Word, illuminated by The Holy Spirit. Man!!! How incredible is that? If we could only TRULY wrap our minds around His MAJESTY - we would realize that pressing into His Word is not a burden… It’s a privilege!
Love you all! Dig in!
