Psalm 13

Good Morning “Strengthened Through His Silence.”  Today we are in Psalm 13.

David, “The man after Gods own heart”, (1 Samuel 13:14) struggled.  From his sin he experienced horrible consequences - including pursuit from even his son.  Through those experiences his faith was tested. Remember testing is good, it produces perseverance and growth (James 1:2-4).  Often during the trial or test God is silent, and may seem distant.  Maybe you’ve heard the phrase, “Take heart, The Teacher is always silent during the test.”

Why?  Why the silence?  What does that do?  Why don’t I “feel” Him or “hear” Him when I need Him most?  “Where did He go”.

First of all… He didn’t go anywhere.  If you are in Jesus, He will never leave you or forsake you (Hebrews 13:5).

Second… You are not alone.  Among many others, both David “The man after Gods own heart”, and Job who was called “blameless and upright” by God Himself in Job 1 & 2 - experienced times of silence from God.

“My soul waits in silence for God only; From Him is my salvation. He only is my rock and my salvation, My stronghold; I shall not be greatly shaken.” Psalms‬ ‭62‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

“I cry out to you, God, but you do not answer; I stand up, but you merely look at me.”
‭‭Job‬ ‭30‬:‭20‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Gods silence allows us a time to learn… often more about ourselves than God.  It shines a light on the depth of our faith or lack of it.  Is it just a bumper sticker, a t-shirt for us - or the real deal?  Gods silence allows us a period to dig deep in faith, to trust what we cannot see (Hebrews 11:1).  It provides an avenue for us to choose rightly based on Biblical Truth we have learned, thus demonstrating growth by putting our faith into practice.  Those actions Glorify Him - that’s what it’s all about.  Even Jesus was perfected through His suffering, and Gods silence was a part of that (Hebrews 2:10, 5:8-9).

If God is silent during the trial… don’t be discouraged.  Look deep, dig deep, and take time to consider what God is showing or teaching you.  It’s all Good!

Love you all!  Dig in!
