2 Corinthians 4

Good Morning “Jars of Clay.”  Let’s dig into 2 Corinthians 4 today.

Paul makes it clear to the church they are struggling.  Nevertheless; they have been given a ministry, just as we have, the ministry of reconciliation - so they press on.  That is the ministry that helps reconcile us sinners to God through Jesus.
(More about this in tomorrows chapter)

“Therefore, since through God’s mercy we have this ministry, we do not lose heart. Rather, we have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God. On the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to everyone’s conscience in the sight of God.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4‬:‭1-2‬ ‭NIV‬‬

They do not twist The Word, or make it more “Seeker Friendly”, as is the inclination today… they simply continue to set forth The Word plainly!

They, like we who know Him,  have the Light of Jesus, The Holy Spirit in us (jars of clay.). We are fragile earthen vessels made from the dust of the earth.  Unworthy, perishing in our human strength.  Why choose us?  So that it’s obvious… He gets all the glory!

Paul’s list of sufferings is extensive, yet once again he makes reference to how insignificant they are in light of Jesus.

“For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” 2 Corinthians‬ ‭4‬:‭17‬-‭18‬

No matter what this life throws at us, we can take comfort in knowing “This is not all there is”!   If we could only, like Paul, live every day with our focus on Jesus and eternity, our temporary lives here on earth would no doubt look much different.

Love you all!  Dig in!
