Good Morning “Freed Slaves”. Dig into Romans 6
In chapter 5 Paul discussed the limitless Grace of God (where sin increases, grace increases - demonstrating Gods love and glory). Now he addresses the ridiculousness notion that “If God’s glory is demonstrated when we sin, then maybe we should just keep on sinning so that His Grace would abound and even more Glory be revealed.”
“What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.”
Romans 6:1-4 NIV
There was a time when we were slaves to sin. Our hearts were wicked, only evil continuously. Our intentions were ONLY selfish. ALL we could do was sin. We were bound to sin. However; when we receive Jesus we are washed, made clean, by the baptism of the Holy Spirit (He comes and lives in us). We are now no longer in bondage to sin. Now when we sin, we choose!
Why when we are set free, do we go back and choose sin? We are dead to sin and alive in Jesus. Dig in! Check out the rest of Chapter 6. Paul inspired of God explains it better than I ever could.
Choose life! Love you all!
