Good Morning No Doubt Followers. Mark 9 is really a continuation of Mark 8.
Jesus continues to show His followers who He truly is. In Mark 8 we learned that although they “saw” Him, they did not “see” Him clearly. They believed He was the Messiah and knew what that meant but were still confused about the cross. They had been given the power to cast our demons but at times doubted and failed. They “understood” dying to themselves but wondered who was going to be the greatest in Heaven. They got it, but didn’t really get it!
He is big, so big that completely wrapping our mind around Him and the miracle of the cross is an impossible endeavor. A couple clear takeaways for us from this chapter:
- The expectation is total faith and reliance on Jesus. Take a look at how He responds when the disciples fail from lack of faith!
- If you want to be first in the kingdom, you must be last! Few are willing to be that.
- We are accountable for things we do that cause others to stumble. Thus, it’s important that we are squared up with Jesus and His Word!
Don’t take my word for it, dig in for yourself and check it out. If you do not have a good study Bible, get one. If you don’t know how to use it, I’d love to help you learn. If you’ve got a smart phone, or computer - Bible Hub is an awesome inexpensive, maybe even free app that includes practically every study tool you would ever need! Multiple Bible Versions, Commentaries, Dictionaries, Original Languages… you name it. I’d love to show you how to use it.
Love You All!
