Good Morning “Self Deniers”, today we dive into Mark 8.
The Pharisees wanted to see a sign that Jesus really was who He claimed to be? A sign? You mean like raising the dead, or healing the lame, blind, deaf, mute, casing out demons left and right… or how about controlling the weather? No specific sign will be given. Maybe Jesus was saying - pay attention. The signs you ask for are all around you!
I believe sometimes we hide behind - “I need more information if I’m really gonna be convinced to go ALL IN with Jesus.” The problem isn’t more information. The problem is we don’t always apply the information we’ve already been given. The proof is all around us. Creation echos a creator. You’ve gotta be spiritually blind not to see Him… oh wait, that’s in this chapter too.
Walking with Jesus isn’t a half way thing -
Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it. What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul? If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his Father’s glory with the holy angels.””
