Job 20

Good Morning “Seekers of Everlasting Joy.”  Today we are in Job 20, the last of Zophar’s comments.

Once again one of Jobs friends kind of speaks Truth.  At least for the most part, Zophar is correct as it relates to Gods dealing with the wicked, although it didn’t apply to Job.  “That the triumphing of the wicked is short, And the joy of the godless momentary?”
‭‭Job‬ ‭20‬:‭5‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

It’s critical to note that Zophar leaves NO room for repentance and reconciliation.  There is no mercy or grace in Zophar’s view of God.  It is there that he spins out of control.

The Bible is jam packed with Gods Mercy and Grace on full display from beginning to end.  Consider the countless 2nd chances God gave Israel upon her repentance.  Name a champion of The Faith and surely we can point to Gods Mercy and Grace in their lives.  Zophar’s picture of God seems to forget His love that promised The Savior.

Let’s jump back to the verse I highlighted - Job 20:5.  Zophar was accurate.  Apart from God, any joy is only fleeting.  It will quickly pass away.  Accumulating treasures and pleasures this world offers only brings momentary satisfaction (Matthew 6:19-21). One day they will pass away, and you can’t take it with you.

The Truth of Scripture and experience of any Follower of Jesus, who has made themselves available to Him - is that He instills Joy that cannot be described.

“You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭16‬:‭11‬ ‭NIV‬‬

I can’t paste them all here, but check out these passages: Isaiah 51:11, Isaiah 9:2, Romans 14:17, Philippians 4:4-5

For extra points fill in the blanks: “I’ve got the Joy, Joy, Joy _______________(where)… _______________(where)…
_______________(where)…

I’ve got the Joy, Joy, Joy,
