Good Morning “No Good on Our Own.” Today we are in Job 14
Adam got it started. Now each of us inherits a sin nature through our fathers.
Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned— Romans 5:12
Apart from Jesus and The Holy Spirit in us… “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” Jeremiah 17:9 KJV
Job understood it was only God who could bring anything good from humanity.
“Who can bring what is pure from the impure? No one!”
Job 14:4 NIV
Paul reiterated the explanation of man’s depravity…
“As it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one.””
Romans 3:10-12 NIV
God has decreed us each to live a specific number of days.
“A person’s days are determined; you have decreed the number of his months and have set limits he cannot exceed.”
Job 14:5 NIV
“Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” Psalm 139:16
Consider our days here a testing ground, a growing us up ground, a what will we do with the days God has given us ground. It’s an important question because how we spend the rest of forever is determined by what we do here and now.
Jesus is the only way to get to heaven (John 14:6)… so let’s make sure we get that settled. Once we have Jesus, we can by His power actually “do better”. By offering ourselves to Him daily Romans 12:1, and allowing Him to work through us we can store up treasures in Heaven (Matthew 6:19-20). Why would we chase after momentary pleasure here when we can store up blessing that lasts FOREVER!
Love you all! Dig in!
