Numbers 1

Good Morning “Believers That God Will Do What He Says He Will Do.” Today we begin the book of Numbers with chapter 1.

Exodus, Leviticus, and Numbers work together to tell the story of how God formed the nation of Israel to accomplish His great purpose. Exodus and Leviticus concentrate on Gods giving of The Law and cover a very short span of time.  Numbers on the other hand will cover nearly 40 years and record Gods preparation of Israel to move towards The Promised Land.

Let’s go back to Genesis for just a moment.

“The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭12‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭NIV‬‬

We’ve talked about the incredible faith Abram demonstrated as he went.  How Abram must have struggled to believe God could do what He said He was going to do.  As he continued to age, and with Sarai barren, we know that he doubted.  Check  Gen 15:1-4, Gen 17:17-18.

Nevertheless all along the way, over and over, God proved Faithful!  Fast forward some 400+ years.  Check out the result of the census of only men over 20… excluding the Levites.

“These were the men counted by Moses and Aaron and the twelve leaders of Israel, each one representing his family. All the Israelites twenty years old or more who were able to serve in Israel’s army were counted according to their families. The total number was 603,550.” Numbers‬ ‭1‬:‭44‬-‭46‬ ‭NIV‬‬

These were only heads of the household.  Factor in their families, and add back in the Levites, and who knows.  Conservative estimates are in the 2,000,000 range.  Safe to say, God has made of Abraham a GREAT NATION!

BELIEVE!  If God says it, that settles it!  HE WILL DO IT!  Dig in!  Know His Word!  Be encouraged by it!  Love you all!
