Leviticus 15

Good Morning “Students of Subjects No One Wants to Talk About.”  Today we are in Leviticus 15.

This chapter covers regulations for the nation of Israel regarding bodily fluid discharges which caused them to be unclean.  Like I said - no one wants to talk about.  I’ve committed to you, that we will cover each chapter, seeking application for us from the whole counsel of God. 2 Timothy 3:16-17.

Check out Gods words to Moses when we near the end of the chapter.  “You must keep the Israelites separate from things that make them unclean, so they will not die in their uncleanness for defiling my dwelling place, which is among them.’ ”
‭‭Leviticus‬ ‭15‬:‭31‬ ‭NIV‬‬

God was warning Moses to instruct the nation in these things - that they might live!  The concern was that they may do or touch something that made them “unclean” in so doing, they would be “unclean” when they entered the dwelling place of God - the Tabernacle.  The penalty was death.

Jesus after rising from the grave and appearing to hundreds ascends into heaven in Acts 1.  He promised the Holy Spirit would come and give them power to witness to the world.  In Acts 2 we read about the Holy Spirit doing just that.  Remind me where His dwelling place is today?

“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭6‬:‭19‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Our application quickly surfaces when we realize that once we receive Jesus, we are THE dwelling place of The Holy Spirt.
His Holy Spirit dwells in us, and where we go He goes.  We drag Him through all of our sinful thoughts and actions.  He doesn’t leave us when we sin.  Gives whole new perspective to defiling the dwelling place of God doesn’t it?

The payment required for sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus (Romans 6:23). His blood shed on The Cross was the ultimate sacrifice for our “uncleanness”.  His blood covers all our sin.

We were born sinful (Psalm 51:5).  Our hearts only evil continuously (Gen. 6:5). Through salvation, and Holy Spirits power from within, we can for the first time “not sin”.  Now for us - sin is a choice.

Romans 8 explains the process well.  Check it out!

Love you all!  What have you done with Jesus.  The payment has been made, but we must receive it!  Dig in!
