Good Morning “Different Than The World.” Today we are in Leviticus 11.
With new Priests instituted Aaron and now his cousins are back at it. God delivers the menu or rather those things not on the menu to Moses and Aaron. Steak was on the menu, Praise The Lord, but no shellfish… what? Why so specific? Much like the rest of the regulations we’ve read about, and many more to come - these things set them apart. They were a Royal Priesthood, Holy set apart for the work of the Lord.
So what about us. We’ve already established that we too are a Royal Priesthood - His ambassadors. So, how do these passages relate to us. Well first let’s be clear, these food regulations no longer apply. How do we know - His Word. Acts 10:9-16
“Then a voice told him, “Get up, Peter. Kill and eat." "The voice spoke to him a second time, “Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.”Acts 10:13,15 NIV
So then what is our application? We too are living in the world but are set apart from it so we should look different than the rest of the world. We should be recognizable as Christians. John 17:14-17 Can people tell we are Christians when they look at us, listen to us, talk to us? What’s different? Is there anything? If not, it’s a problem. God doesn't mess!
Do we indulge in everything the world does, or are there things like Israel, that we abstain from? Paul said, although all things are permissible, not all things are profitable. Although we are free, our freedom should never be exercised to the point that we no longer look different. “I didn’t know you were a Christian”, should be a statement that breaks our hearts. The one we represent is worthy - don’t you think?
Love you all! Dig in! Be different!
