Good Morning “Restitution Providers.” Today we are in Leviticus 6.
This chapter continues with explanation regarding the “Guilt Offering.” Specifically this portion deals with those sins that require not just Spiritual Atonement but some form of pay back. When our sin costs someone something it’s reasonable that we make them whole once again, plus something for their trouble - so to speak.
Here we see their guilt offering was to be accompanied by a payment back to the owner including 1/5 additional. Consider this modern day example. I’m driving carelessly, and as a result I smash into your car. The court’s will likely require me to pay all damages to you and your car, + restitution for your trouble.
Isn’t it interesting how so many (all originally) of our laws reflect Biblical Principle even today. It’s almost as if The Bible was used as a guide when forming the framework for the way we would live in the US. Guess what? It was! Don’t let anyone ever tell you different - research it, you’ll see. www.wallbuilders.com
The chapter then continues with further specifics regarding each offering and the Priests administration of it.
Be reminded the payment required for sin is death. Romans 6:23. Atonement had to be made. However; the blood of animals carried no righteous value so the ordinance only demonstrated faith through obedience. Only Jesus, could be the atoning sacrifice that takes away sin permanently. We’ve all sinned and fallen short Romans 3:23 - but check out the verses that follow in Romans 3:24 - 26.
