Good Morning “Thankful Followers.” Today we are in Leviticus 2.
As we read about the Grain Offering it’s easy to begin to get overwhelmed with all of the specific requirements. That’s part of the point. Remember all of Scripture from beginning to end is the story of Jesus. The specific details served even more to push the nation to realize… we cannot possibly keep all of these laws and sacrifices perfectly. They needed a Savior - we need a Savior.
The Grain offering, often followed the Burnt Offering. While the Burnt Offering served as temporary atonement for sin, and made the statement “Take all of me”, the Grain Offering was more of a “Thanks for the provision”, offering. It was symbolic of all that the Lord provided for them, as well as a shadow of Jesus, the bread of life.
Think of our process as believers. If after Salvation, as Romans 12:1 says, we offer our “bodies as a living sacrifice, holy pure and pleasing to God”, (similar to Burnt Offering) then perhaps the next movement in our hearts is realizing all He has done for us. Being thankful for the provision is a natural response (Grain Offering).
In view of Christs sacrifice on the Cross we offer all of ourselves in service to Him, with thanksgiving for all of His provision as we labor.
Hope that helps some! Love you all! Dig in!
