Leviticus 1

Good Morning “Living Sacrifices.”  Today we are in Leviticus 1.

The Burnt Offering and the animals that could be offered were very specific, a bull, a ram, or birds.  In each case you were to dispatch the animal or animals with your hand on it, transferring your sin to the animal.  The death of the animal was something to be observed.  Imagine dispatching the animal with your bare hands and acknowledging the animal had to die as a result of your sin.  In this way the Burnt Offering was a sort of Maintenance Offering.

Its blood was sprinkled specifically.  Although different parts of the animal were prepared differently, ALL of the animal was placed and burnt on the Alter as an offering to The Lord.  All of the animal, symbolized total submission.  You can have ALL of me Lord.  This 2nd acknowledgement parallels our youth group verse Romans 12:1.

“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.” Romans‬ ‭12‬:‭1‬ ‭NIV‬‬

The KJV actually uses the language “this is your reasonable service.”

Because Jesus went to The Cross to pay for all of our sin, the ultimate sacrifice, it’s reasonable that we offer ALL of ourselves to Him in service.  After all, He ransomed us - paid for us.  The price for our sin was death.  Rom 6:23.  That’s what was required.  Ultimately us, on the alter, for all of eternity.  He no longer requires the blood of bulls or goats… now He just wants us, you, all of you!

Love you all!  Dig in!  Hold nothing back!
