Good Morning “God Followers.” Today we are in Exodus 40.
With the Tabernacle completed and set up instructions given, the system to bring sacrifices for sin so that the people might worship and fellowship with God is in place. All of the work was completed exactly as God had instructed.
“Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.”
Exodus 40:34 NIV
This chapter wraps up by describing Gods leading the nation from place to place and how that occurred. “In all the travels of the Israelites, whenever the cloud lifted from above the tabernacle, they would set out; but if the cloud did not lift, they did not set out—until the day it lifted. So the cloud of the Lord was over the tabernacle by day, and fire was in the cloud by night, in the sight of all the Israelites during all their travels.”
Exodus 40:36-38 NIV
If only God would appear to us, and lead and guide us through a Pillar of Fire. Or even better yet, what if there was a way He could influence our thoughts, lead, guide, convict, and teach from the inside out.
Jesus promised such a relationship through The Holy Spirit. “But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.”
John 14:26 NIV We know the Spirit came in Acts 2.
Speaking of the Old Testament Law, Paul explains our incredible relationship in Jesus like this:
“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.” Romans 8:1-5 NIV
“For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.” Romans 8:14 NIV
True Belief in Jesus results in action. Evidence of belief is the desire to be led by The Holy Spirit who dwells in us if indeed we believe. We still have the power to silence The Spirits leading by following our flesh… but why would we choose the flesh - it leads to death? Know God and His desires by knowing The Word of God! Choose to follow Him and His ways and say no to old fleshly desires.
