Good Morning “Members of a Royal Priesthood.” Today we are in Exodus 29.
The next two chapters cover the process / ordinances that must be followed to consecrate Aaron and his sons as priests, able to serve in the Tabernacle.
First a ceremonial cleaning, then dressing in the priestly garments made specifically and perfectly, then sacrificial offerings.
We might be tempted to try to draw comparisons between this process for the priests in Israel and the process by which we ordain Pastors for service today - but we’d be wrong. Some still try to set Pastors apart from the rest of the congregation, a sort of Christian Priesthood, but they are in error. Revelation refers to this as the Nicolaitan heresy. Check out Peter’s words… “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” 1 Peter 2:9 NIV
Every believer in Christ is a consecrated Priest of Jesus. We too must be cleansed but our cleaning is accomplished through the Blood of Jesus by the Holy Spirt. Titus 3:5-6 We are also clothed for service, but by Jesus Christ Gal. 3:26-27. Their garments demonstrated who they were, they looked different. By putting on Christ we too should look different Rom 13:13-14. We are anointed for our service by the Holy Spirit, 2 Cor 1:21-22. Our power for service is not from ourselves, it comes totally from the Holy Spirit 2 Tim 1:7. He even gives us Spiritual Gifts at the time of salvation - for His glory not ours. 1 Cor 12:7-10, Eph 4:11-13, Rom 12:6-8.
They must make sacrifices for their sin. Jesus sacrifice was once for all, but we must continue to come to Him in confession 1John 1:9.
There is no such thing as being called by The Father “just for salvation”. We are ALL called for service. “Good works which He prepared in advance for us to do.” If you’re saved by the Blood of Christ… you’ve got work to do. Eph 2:8-10
There are many extra verses today. I encourage you to check them out! Love you all! Dig in.
