Exodus 17

Good Morning “Not By Yourself.”  Today we are in Exodus 17.

God continues to bless the Israelites in ways that make it clear, He is Lord.  They continue to grumble and seemingly almost look for ways to turn against Him.

They get attacked from the rear.  The Amalekites come in a most cowardly way.  Moses selects Joshua to go choose some men to fight them.

Moses announces He is going to go up to the top of the mountain with his staff.  He takes Aaron and Hur with him.  It’s as if he already knows God, through Moses with the staff as the object, is once again going to demonstrate His power.

Moses discovers that when he lifts up his hands Joshua seems to gain ground in the battle, but when his hands drop he starts losing.  When Moses grew tired and could no longer hold his hands up, Aaron and Hur assisted him.  They even placed a rock under him to help when needed.

And so the Amalekites were defeated. Afterward God instructs Moses to write the events down so that they would not be forgotten.

Don’t forget, He gives the victory!  No matter what you are going through.  Who are your Aaron and Hur?  Sometimes it can be hard to see, especially if we’re running in the wrong circles.  Who has God given to undergird you in the battle.  We are in a battle, but He doesn’t expect us to fight it alone.  He surrounds us with Wisdom  and Power.

Love you all!  Dig in!  Look outside the box.
