Exodus 14

Good Morning “Fearers of The Lord.”  Today we are in Exodus 14.

Remember Gods Word to Moses…

“…so that I may perform these signs of mine among them that you may tell your children and grandchildren how I dealt harshly with the Egyptians and how I performed my signs among them, and that you may know that I am the Lord.”  Exodus‬ ‭10‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭NIV‬‬

It worked!  Moses didn’t just tell his children and grandchildren… we’re still talking about it today.  In fact the entire story of Exodus is one of the best known stories in the Bible.  After all the plagues, and then the swallowing up of Pharaohs army… check out the last verse of chapter 14…

“And when the Israelites saw the mighty hand of the Lord displayed against the Egyptians, the people feared the Lord and put their trust in Him and in Moses his servant.”
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭14‬:‭31‬ ‭NIV‬‬
“The people FEARED The Lord and put their trust in Him.”

I’ve said it before, I believe we’ve lost this - at least to some extent.  Progressive Christianity has watered down not just The Gospel, but the incredible POWER, RIGHTEOUSNESS and WRATH of our God in the face of evil!  Fear of God has become “awe”.  We’ve changed the meaning of the word fear it’s self.  More than 200 times were told not to fear anything in Scripture yet, even more times than that we’re told to “Fear God” in some form or another - throughout both the Old and New Testaments.

In the Old Testament, EVERY time we see fear related to God it’s the same word…
Hebrew: yare' (yaw-ray) Definition: Terror, Afraid

EVERY time we see it in the New Testament it’s this word in the original Greek: phobeó (fob-eh'-o) Definition: to put to flight, to terrify, frighten

Proverbs 9:10 “The Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”

Isn’t wisdom simply defined as applying knowledge?  Are we not living what we say we believe because we’ve lost our fear of God?  His righteousness compels Him to act in response to sin and evil - sooner or later.  We know the end of the story - He most definitely will.  But even now, He disciplines those He loves - every good father does.

Love you all!  Know and fear The Lord!  It’s not the bad thing the world has made it!
