Genesis 36

Good Morning “Lineage Students”.  Today we are in Genesis 36.

Today we read about Esau, his sons and their decedents, as well as those who were in the land they settled.

Esau conquers the people of the land and they become the nation of Edom.  Edom will become synonymous with Godlessness and sin.  Edom is a pagan nation with pagan gods.

Jacob is next I the line of Jesus, now Israel synonymous with Gods people.

It’s interesting to note here that God blesses and prospers both nations, not unlike the way he blessed Ishmael.  He promised he would and he does.

Some divisions of Christianity might have you believe that wealth and material riches are only for Gods people, only for the obedient.   Stories like these in Scripture make it abundantly clear that just isn’t the case.  In fact there are probably more poor Christian’s today than there are rich.  By the same token we see very wealthy Godless people.

Eternal blessing and reward is promised to the faithful, wealth here and now never is.

Remember as you read through these lineage’s and others that choices matter, our lives, the way we live them and the path we choose has long lasting even eternal consequences.  Here we see Esau’s Godlessness manifested in the generations that follow.  Some of these Kings are named after pagan gods such as Baal-Hanan which means Baal is gracious.  What????

Love you all!  Dig in!
