Genesis 17

Good Morning “Covenant Keepers.”  Today we are in Genesis Chapter 17.

Have you ever agreed to, or made a covenant to the Lord?  A covenant is a serious thing, not to be taken lightly.  A covenant includes God and assumes He will hold you accountable should you break your covenant.  It can be made including others but the  constant is God.

Perhaps the most familiar to us is marriage.  Marriage for instance, is a covenant, not a contract.  The truth of Scripture is that a Marriage is a 3 way covenant agreement between each party and God and each party and each other.  A contract says this is what I will do as long and you do this.  Unlike a contract, a covenant says I will do my part regardless of conditions or a change in circumstances.  No matter what I will honor my covenant.

Consider that, as you read chapter 17.  God reiterates and reveals the full extent of His covenant with Abram.  He also commands a marker - something that will cause Abram to remember and never forget his covenant with God.  Additionally in todays reading we see how Abram became Abraham and Sarai became Sarah!

If you haven’t already - check it out for yourself.  Dig in!  Love you
