Genesis 11

Good Morning “Instruments of Gods Plan.”  Today we are in Genesis Chapter 11.

Yesterday, in Chapter 10 we saw that through the lines of Shem, Ham and Japheth the world was filled.   We also saw that they were scattered across the globe.  But, what or who scattered them, and why?  Today we get that answer.

God has a plan.  A plan of redemption.  It’s the story of the entire Bible.  Our sin separates us from God.  Rom 3:23 What’s more our sin demands a payment, death.  Romans 6:23.  Through the Blood of Jesus we can be forgiven, redeemed, and as a result spend eternity in heaven.  Rom 5.8, 10:9, 8:1 That’s Gods plan.

Man makes plans of his own.  Often against God or around His plan.  God made a way for us to get to heaven, later Jesus will tell the disciples that He is the only way, The Truth and the Life. John 14:6.  We have a world full of religions that say it’s possible to get to heaven on our own merit, by our own works.  Well, God thwarts the plans of men Psalm 33:10.

Notice here Nimrod, who stood before / or opposed to God, from the rebellious line of Ham, leads the charge to build first the city of Babylon, then the tower to reach heaven… on their own.  He didn’t even use stone that God had already provided.  They “made” their own bricks.  They were determined to reach heaven on their terms.

Read on to see how well that worked out for them.  Notice also, as you read through the line of Shem the preservation of the line that ultimately leads to Jesus.  You’ll recognize a familiar name in there.

Love you all!  Dig in!
