Good Morning “Ark Lovers”. Today we are in Genesis chapter 8.
God is in control of all things. He is intimately involved in every aspect - sovereign over all.
“But God remembered Noah and all the wild animals and the livestock that were with him in the ark, and he sent a wind over the earth, and the waters receded. Now the springs of the deep and the floodgates of the heavens had been closed, and the rain had stopped falling from the sky.” Genesis 8:1-2 NIV
“Remembered” - although Noah had been through quite a trial God had Noah and his family on His mind. He’s delicate and precise with all that He does. Able to bring destruction on the entire population of the earth and spare just one family.
Notice He sent the wind. Commanding it from the storehouse as Scripture says in Psalm 135:7
The springs of the deep, once opened wide by God now closed… like turning off a faucet. The heavens that once dumped rain in sheets shut up.
To all of this what was Noah’s response?
“Then Noah built an altar to the Lord and, taking some of all the clean animals and clean birds, he sacrificed burnt offerings on it.”
Genesis 8:20 NIV
Worship. Sacrifice. No stomping his feet because all that he had established in life was gone. Seemingly no mourning over the loss of friends and extended family. It appears in this moment Noah gets it. Side note… consider Noah’s sacrifice. There were only 7 pairs of clean animals - talk about near extinction. Noah’s sacrifice of some of all of the clean animals and birds would have left even less. His small sacrifice was a big one in the moment.
Love you all! Dig in!
