2 Peter 3

Good Morning “Ready and Waiting.” Today we wrap up Peters second letter with 2 Peter 3.

As we’ve already talked about, there were false teachers and prophets within the church’s Peter was writing to.  They were teaching that Jesus wasn’t coming after all.

“Above all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. They will say, “Where is this ‘coming’ he promised?”  2 Peter‬ ‭3‬:‭3‬-‭4‬ ‭

Peter wraps up his letter by reminding them that God doesn’t operate on our timeline.  There’s a very good reason Jesus hasn’t returned yet.  It speaks to His loving mercy.  Check it out.

“But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” 2 Peter‬ ‭3‬:‭8‬-‭9‬ ‭

We’re given this time to get our hearts right.  Every opportunity to seek Him and align ourselves with The Word of God is ours. How are we doing with that?  He will return… and will surprise many.

“But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare. Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming.”
‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭3‬:‭10‬-‭12‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him.”
‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭3‬:‭14‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Love you all!  Dig in!  Be ready!
