Good Morning “Clothed in Humility.” Today we wrap up 1 Peter with chapter 5
As Peter wraps up he reminds the Elders of the church to Shepard the people well. Lead by example! Love with a tender heart! Correct with gentleness.
He also reminds the younger submit to the Elders. God put each of us right where we are at. In our little worlds He has surrounded us with wisdom… if we are paying attention we will see. They have wisdom to be passed on… but do we want it? He reminds the churches…
“All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.” Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.” 1 Peter 5:5-6
I don’t know about you but I’d really rather God NOT oppose me. He desires we grow up. Remember if we’re not humble we’re not teachable. If we have it all figured out… well, then there’s nothing left to learn. We get hung up on this idea that “I’ll figure it out on my own.” “They made their mistakes, I’ll make mine.” Think of how silly that sounds. Instead think of it like this - we have an opportunity to take a short cut, learn from those who have already made the mistakes, tried it their way and realized the BEST way is HIS way!
“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.”
1 Peter 5:7-9
Satan is the master of convincing us our way is better than Gods. He preys on the weak. We become weak when we’re not firmly grounded. The Father really does want what’s best for us. Don’t miss the blessing of the shortcut because you got it all figured out! Instead, soak up all the wisdom you can!
Love you all! Dig in! Check it out for yourself.
