Hebrews 13

Good Morning “Entertainers of Angels.”  What?  You’ll have to dig into Hebrews 13 to see what that means.

As the writer of Hebrews wraps up, he offers a summary of all that he’s written.  I could highlight and expound upon every line but I’d be here all day.  Instead I encourage you to dig in.

Hebrews 13 reads like an outline for living Biblically in our crazy world!  As we look around it’s easy to see how selfishness, self centered ness, and lack of contentment has corrupted society.  We’ve exchanged the Truth of God and His sufficiency for a lie.  At the core level, Truth no longer reigns.  We now have “Our Truth”, “My Truth”, and “Your Truth.”  That’s simply not a thing.  Truth is Truth… plainly.  Jesus is The Way, The Truth, and The Life” John 14:6.  Translation… He’s the way to God, The Way to Heaven, He is The Truth, He is everything for Life and Eternity.

Nevertheless; evil seems to be everywhere - driven by greed, and covetousness.  Paul reminded Timothy - material things are not the answer. “For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” 1 Timothy 6:10  Sounds like the answer to why we’re generally not happy people.

Here the writer of Hebrews speaks similarly but offers an alternative much greater than dollars and cents.

“Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?” Hebrews‬ ‭13‬:‭5‬-‭6‬ ‭

The stuff we typically chase after, will NEVER bring lasting satisfaction or Joy.  That’s only found in Jesus.  He is ALWAYS enough.  The breakdown comes when the relationship isn’t there.  We cannot expect to experience the benefits of a “real relationship” if the “real relationship” is suffering or doesn’t exist.  The fruit, or by products, of walking with Jesus, His Holy Spirit in us, are: Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control.  Gal 5:22

Isn’t that what we seek… at the core?  We might just be looking in the wrong place.

Love you all!  Dig deeper!
