Hebrews 12

Good Morning “With Perseverance Race Runners”.  Today we are in Hebrews 12.

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭12‬:‭1‬-‭3‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Let’s break it down a bit.  It’s easy to talk the talk - many do.  It’s much harder to walk the walk.  The path we are to walk has been marked out by The Word of God - like a race course.  Choosing sin gets us tangled up and off course.  So, we are to throw it off - get far away from it!  No need to walk the line.  When we focus on Jesus the one who authored our faith by dying on the Cross for us it’s easier to look right past sin.  For the JOY set before Him… the worst possible death imaginable He considered JOY because it meant salvation for us.  Consider that, as we look past sin and don’t let yourself grow weary of the battle!

Know that your Father in heaven loves you!  A good father disciplines His children so that they might not fall into deeper harm.  Know when we get off track, correction through discipline is coming.

“Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children. For what children are not disciplined by their father? If you are not disciplined—and everyone undergoes discipline—then you are not legitimate, not true sons and daughters at all.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭12‬:‭7‬-‭8‬ NIV

Love you all!  Dig in for yourself!  Don’t be satisfied with this little appetizer!  There is much more in this chapter!
