2 Timothy 4

Good Morning “Itchy Ears.”  Today we wrap up 2 Timothy with Chapter 4.

Paul leaves Timothy with a little last encouragement and a charge.

“Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.”
‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭4‬:‭2‬-‭3‬ ‭NIV‬‬

There is much work to be done… let’s break this down a bit.

In order to be prepared to preach The Word in season and out of season Timothy had to be a student of it… remember, a workman approved who could handle it correctly.

Our personal ministry should involve some rebuke, but with great encouragement - considering others before ourself.  Loving them like Jesus, truly broken over their pain.  At no point do we toss out other parts of Scripture  for the sake of obeying another.  It ALL fits together.

There is a time coming, maybe already come, when people will want nothing to do with sound doctrine.  Instead, they want to hear things that make them feel good.  At a time when the world appears to be spiraling out of control, we want answers.  Our ears are itching for them.  At a time like this, when our lives depend on it… do you want The Truth, or do you want someone to tell you something that makes you feel good?

There are PLENTY of groups and teachers out there that will tell you what you want to hear.  Making people feel good about themselves is big business.  The problem is, if I’m not convicted, why would I change?

Seek Truth!  Know Truth!  Speak Truth!  It’s up to you!  Don’t be content to be spoon fed!

Love you all!
