1 Timothy 6

Good Morning “Content With Jesus Alone.”  Today we wrap up 1 Timothy with Chapter 6.

Paul’s last instructions to Timothy include teaching about those who believe their relationship with God will somehow turn the tables and make them rich.  The Bible never promises, wealth or health… “In fact Jesus says in this world we will have trouble.”  Suffering seems to be a tool for growth, and blessing.  On the contrary, Jesus is enough.  He knows our real NEEDS before we even ask, and provides REAL Fruit through The Holy Spirit.  Paul, who knows the struggle, reminds Timothy…

“But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.”
‭‭1 Timothy‬ ‭6‬:‭8‬-‭10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Why so much corruption and deception in our world?  Follow the money!  Money is power.  Money is the tool we use to provide momentary fleeting pleasure and happiness.  We need some to live in the world we find ourselves in, but the things it provides are only temporary… fleeting.  So, we need more.  More money, more temporary stuff.  So money has a way of taking the primary place in our lives.  Once it gets to that point, you’ll compromise anything for it.

Remember Matthew’s words in 6:24, “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”

He is the source of all of the REAL Fruit we seek!  Everything else is a temporary manufacturing of false happiness.

Love you all!  Dig in to the real source.
