Matthew 13

Matthew 13

In Matthew 12 we saw the religious leaders really starting to turn on Jesus, even starting to plot to kill Him.  He was preaching a The Gospel of Grace, and they were all about their “good works”.

In 13 Jesus begins speaking in parables.  Those with a humble, open, teachable heart will understand those with hard unrepentant hearts will not.

We read the parable of the sower and soon realize Jesus isn’t REALLY talking about sowing crop seed.  He speaks about those who are picking up what He’s putting down, those who are learning, applying and living it - and those who aren’t.

He continues with several other parables, some He explains in detail, others He doesn’t.  He refers to the spiritual battle we’re in, the value of the Gospel and the Good Word He is sharing, and even speaks of spreading that Good News.

It would have been awesome to walk with Jesus in the flesh, but we have the opportunity to have Jesus in us!  When we receive Jesus, The Holy Spirit comes and dwells in us!  He is our teacher - from the inside out!

John 14:26
“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.”

“Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭3‬:‭16‬ ‭

Checkout part of Jesus’ prayer the night of His arrest - praying for all true Believers:

“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.”
‭‭John‬ ‭17‬:‭20‬-‭21‬ ‭NIV‬‬

It starts with acceptance and repentance.  Nothing we can do good enough to ever earn Salvation.  That’s Jesus point with the religious leaders.  We’ve all sinned and come up short Romans 3:23.  The payment required for our sin is eternal death, separation from God… only one place to spend eternity separated from God.  But the Gift of God - His Grace, is Jesus.   Romans 6:23.  It’s by grace we’ve been saved - through faith, nothing we’ve done - Ephesians 2:8-9.  Still in the midst of our sin Jesus died for us Romans 5:8.  Truly believing means there is action, repentance, emotional, spiritual and physical action - Romans 10:9.   Then - no condemnation for us Romans 8:1

All of this stuff we’ve been talking about will mean nothing without the Holy Spirit in you!

Receive the Greatest Gift ever given - then dig in and let the Spirit teach you!

Love you all!
