Good Morning “Wall Builders.” Today we are in Nehemiah 3.
Yesterday we looked at the fact that Nehemiah came to serve. He was intent on being used by God to rebuild the wall. In chapter 2 we saw that he did not come with a lot of fanfare. In fact, he waited 3 days once in Jerusalem, surveyed the wall at night, then publicly announced his plan to everyone at once. Think of the strategy here - no doubt from The Lord. By announcing the plan to everyone at once, he minimized the opportunity for Satan to start stirring the pot with assumption and gossip. Genius! God!
There was purpose in every aspect, including involving ALL of Judah. I hope as you read the list of where all the families / clans were involved your jaw dropped. Jewelers, priests, goldsmiths, men, women, daughters and sons. You know what seems mysteriously absent from the list? Wall Builders. I found none. Even the Project Superintendent, Nehemiah, was a Cupbearer - not a Wall Builder.
This wall project was about way more than laying blocks. Judah was a mess and lacked unification. We cannot serve God well when we are divided within our families, and within the greater family of God - The Church. He desires we be unified.
“There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all.”
Ephesians 4:4-6 NASB1995
In our unification, with everyone purposed toward what God wants, He does incredible, miraculous things despite our qualifications, or lack there of. The Pastors job is to equip the people “spiritually” to do the work of the ministry.
“And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ. As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming;” Ephesians 4:11-13 NASB1995
Pastors don’t teach messages on the mechanics of construction necessarily. That’s the easy part. It’s our job to prepare The Church spiritually to be unified, focused, and committed to serving - using what gifts they are given for The Lord and for His purpose (Romans 12:1). Once he has our heart, He can use anyone for anything. The church could be unstoppable.
“As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming;” Ephesians 4:14 NASB1995
Love you all! Dig in! Gods still moving miraculously! Get involved so you don’t miss out!
