Good Morning “Lord Servers”. Today we wrap up Joshua with chapter 24.
Who or what do you worship and why? Who do you serve? Yourself? Others around you? It’s been said that blood is thicker than water? Odds are your beliefs are very similar to your parents, grandparents and those you spend most of your time with. If you’re a follower of Jesus, odds are someone close to you was as well - and you’ve been influenced by their belief. Until met by some outside influence, some alternative belief, generally we stay the course.
Yesterday I challenged you to Love (or choose) the Lord. Maybe this is an easy choice for you because your parents are Christians, and your Grandparents are Christian’s etc etc. I know for many this is not the case. Many say they “believe”, but show little fruit of true belief in their lives.
Someday we will all meet Jesus face to face. In that moment what our parents believed won’t matter. When we reach the age of accountability, (When we are capable of understanding we need a Savior) - WE are held responsible. When we meet Jesus, “My parents never got serious”, “I’m a product of my environment”, “My friends led me astray”, or “No one ever told me”, simply won’t fly. According to Romans 1 creation echos His name so that we are without excuse. We see Him EVERYWHERE! We call that General Revelation. He reveals Himself “Generally” all around us. Knowledge of Him should cause us to seek Him, and when we do, He promises we’ll find Him.
“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.“ Jeremiah 29:13 NIV
We CANNOT hide behind excuses. We must choose, then we must live with the consequences of our choice. The cost is great.
”But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15 NIV
Love you all! Choose carefully! Dig in!
