Joshua 18

Good Morning “Not Willing to Settle.”  Today we are in Joshua 18.

Moses defeated major kingdoms to the East.  Joshua has defeated major kingdoms inside Canaan.  Israel has begun to spread out across the land, but much work is yet to be done.

God had proven Himself faithful, yet, seven tribes have still not taken possession of their land.  With remnants of inhabitants still left in the land their faith waivers.

They gather, set up the “tent of meeting”, and Joshua lays it out.  Why would you come this far and not finish?  Why would God remain faithful through so much and not give you the power to be victorious?

We’ve already seen other tribes compromise, allowing former inhabitants to stay… and it will cost them.  Dealing with “former inhabitants”, sin in our lives, can be awkward.  We too have a tenancy to settle.  We’ve got salvation through Jesus, so what else is there?  I mean Pastor Jason, “I regularly go to church… I consider myself a believer… so why get so crazy with all of this?”

Why?  Because there is so much more!  One would not train hard for the big game only to forfeit before stepping on the field.  A musician does not practice and prepare well for the big show, yet fail to walk on the stage.  God has given all that we need in order to be victorious.

”Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.“ Hebrews‬ ‭12‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Love you all!  Dig in!
