Good Morning “Giant Slayers”. Today we are in Joshua 11.
God continues to bless the nation of Israel with victory - insuring their inheritance of the “Promised Land”, and destroying pagan nations in the process.
”No Anakites were left in Israelite territory; only in Gaza, Gath and Ashdod did any survive. So Joshua took the entire land, just as the Lord had directed Moses, and he gave it as an inheritance to Israel according to their tribal divisions. Then the land had rest from war.“ Joshua 11:22-23 NIV
That name Anakites… sounds familiar doesn’t it. Do you remember? Why 40 years of wandering in the desert? Remember the 12 spies sent into Canaan - The report of 10 of them?
”But the people who live there are powerful, and the cities are fortified and very large. We even saw descendants of Anak there…
But the men who had gone up with him said, “We can’t attack those people; they are stronger than we are.” And they spread among the Israelites a bad report about the land they had explored. They said, “The land we explored devours those living in it. All the people we saw there are of great size. We saw the Nephilim there (the descendants of Anak come from the Nephilim). We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them.”Numbers 13:28, 31-33 NIV
God is faithful to His promises no matter what! In this chapter grasshoppers conquer the giants - led by faith! The same Faith that filled the only 2 spies that gave a good report - Joshua and Caleb. ”Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, “We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it.” Numbers 13:30
If God said it that settles it! What giants are you facing today? Trust Him! Trust comes from knowing Him, His Character and His ways. How do we get to know Him? Dig in! Gotta dig into His Word, press in and experience Him.
