Good Morning “Remembering Gods Holiness.” Today we are in Deuteronomy 27.
As we read through Deuteronomy it seems we cannot get enough reminders that Gods Holiness, His Righteousness - demands a reckoning. Next chapter we will look also at Gods promised blessing in their obedience.
What are we to glean from this chapter then? I think if there is anything we can apply from the continued reminder of Gods Holiness, it’s that we MUST proclaim both the Mercy and Grace of God, AND the Wrath of God that His Holiness demands.
Truly for those who have received Jesus payment on The Cross, His death satisfied the payment required for sin. It’s a payment we each must receive. Apart from receiving His payment (His substitutionary atonement) - Gods wrath remains on us. The payment required, is “death” and it equals both physical and spiritual separation from God.
Many movements within Christianity seem to preach well one side or the other, but not both. He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. He is immutable, (un-changeable).
The payment required for sin is death! Ours, or Jesus’. You choose! Once saved by the blood of Jesus, The Father who loves us, still disciplines us. Why? Because He loves us and knows continued sin leads to horrible consequences. Love disciplines, that we might change our behavior, hence avoid the consequences of sin. It’s basic love. The Father who loves His children disciplines them. The challenge you to check out Hebrews 12:1-12 - the writer makes it abundantly clear.
