Deuteronomy 13

Good Morning “Recognizers of Fakes.”  Today we are In Deuteronomy 13.

I’m sure you’ve heard it said before.  Treasury agents don’t study counterfeit bills, they study the real thing.  They know our money so well they can recognize a fake immediately.

Here God warns the nation of Israel not to let anyone persuade them into worshipping false gods.  It’s interesting to me that in this warning God seems to assume that they know Him, and the Law well enough to both recognize what’s happening and be committed enough to Him to put them to death.

Notice it doesn’t much matter whether it is a false prophet or a beloved family member.  They are not to take pity on them.  It’s crazy to think that.  How much do you love God?  He doesn’t play when it comes to causing others to stumble, fall - be enticed into sin.

Jesus said, “…but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.” (Mat 18:6).

”Jesus said to his disciples: “Things that cause people to stumble are bound to come, but woe to anyone through whom they come.“ Luke‬ ‭17‬:‭1‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Do you know His Word well enough to recognize a false gospel.  Do you know it well enough to ensure you’re counseling others properly?  Do you love Him enough; are you committed to Him to the point that He comes before even family?

Love you all!  Dig in!
