Good Morning “Protected Without Realizing It.” Today we are in Numbers 19.
Thousands of years before we really had the medical science to back it up, God was protecting the Nation of Israel from contagions, molds, and disease. To them, many of His commands likely seemed senseless but they were at times for their welfare and safety.
God is still in the business of loving and protecting His people. For instance the whole one woman one man thing… marriage. (Genesis 2:21-25) One sexual partner within the covenant of marriage. God knew apart from marriage a man and woman were more likely to split up. Then another likely sexual partner. The command is spiritual indeed, as we are the Temple of The Living God and become one with anyone we unite with. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20) But; it also serves to protect our health. Clearly we have seen STDs erupt in our world as a result of the contrary. (Romans 1:22-27) In 2021 it was estimated that 1 in 4 college students had an STD.
But how do we know? Which commands are for our welfare and which are simply Spiritual. Does it matter? Preparation for disobedience is perhaps at the heart of the question. Which is more important our Spiritual health or our physical? The temporal or the eternal?
“You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.”
Galatians 5:13 NIV
“What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?”
Matthew 16:26 NIV
God loves you and wants the best for you in every way. His Word, His Commands, should not be seen as burdensome but rather blessing!
Love you all! Dig in!
