Good Morning “Humble Followers.” Today we are in Numbers 16.
Oxford defines Pride as: Consciousness of one’s own dignity or deep pleasure associated with one’s own achievements.
Humility is defined as: A modest or low view of one’s own importance.
From the whole of Scripture we should be convinced of this - ITS ALL GOD! Anything good in us, comes through Him by His Holy Spirit. It’s called Grace. We didn’t deserve it or earn it. It’s unfavored merit. The best we have to offer is like filthy rags. (Isaiah 64:6) He gives us every breath we take. (Job 27:3) Every talent, ability, and Spiritual Gift is given by His Grace. Any wealth, any success… all good gifts, given by His Grace (1 Cor. 4:7).
Even Salvation is His Grace to us (Ephesians 2:8-9). He even initiates that! (John 6:44) Because of our sin we were already on our way to Hell. He draws us to Himself and saves us - all by grace (Titus 3:5) All for His Glory and His service (Ephesians 2:10). Our natural response, should be to accept Jesus, His blood on the Cross for our sin (John 3:16) and offer ourselves as a “Living Sacrifice” (Romans 12:1).
He appoints all authorities and will hold accountable anyone who rebells against them; because those who do - rebel against Him. (Romans 13:1-2). God REQUIRES our humility and submission. He will in fact humble the proud - even unto death! (Matthew 23:12) The Evil One is looking to destroy it all by destroying you! (1 Peter 5:8). He’s not creative - He does it with the same lies He presented in the garden. Something alternative to Gods perfect design. (Genesis 3:1-5).
All of these Truths come into play in today’s chapter. Check it out! God doesn’t mess around. Do you want to lead? First you must be a good willing follower - Humbly submitted to The Lord. Pride has no place in leadership.
Love you all! Dig in!
